At the Farnum Center, we understand how important it is to get the help you need right away. Our screening process called Open Access is a a walk-in service available Monday through Friday from 8-10am. You will meet with a counselor who will complete a thorough assessment and discuss with you the most appropriate level of care.
The Farnum Center is a comprehensive alcohol and other drug treatment facility offering an array of services including the State’s only stand-alone medical detox unit, Inpatient, Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, and Suboxone clinics. The Center is located on three acres approximately 50 miles north of Boston and offers an in-ground pool, sand volleyball and basketball courts. Our days are filled with education classes, meetings, group discussions, positive seminars, and special presentations. Recreation is an important part of recovery and your time at Farnum is geared toward exercise, music, and meditation. Museum field trips, outside meetings, sports, and recovery events are part of the Farnum experience.
Our goal is for each person to understand they have everything they need within themselves to be healthy. Our philosophy allows for our clients to see themselves as great people who have used their thinking in ways that do not benefit their lifestyle. We don’t tell anyone how to live their lives but help them to understand their own inner wisdom. This allows for everyone to fully understand that the past or outside circumstances are not the problem. We help everyone, including our staff, to understand that we all live in our own thinking. Our thoughts dictate how outside circumstances affect us. This is a very different approach to treatment. After many years of employing a variety of methods, we have found a simple way to address addiction. One client stated, “I have been in five rehabs, why didn’t anyone teach me about this.” Another client said, “Please don’t go back to the way others do treatment. I have learned more here in five days then in five months at other programs.”
At Farnum, we are not smarter or better than anyone else. We have been fortunate enough to have the insight that we all live in our thinking and have developed a method to share it with those in treatment.
